General Description

The Digital Systems/Cyber Security Engineer assists with the implementation of the Nuclear Power Plant (CPNPP) cyber security program to meet requirements of the 10CFR 73.54 cyber security regulations consistent with the CPNPP Cyber Security Plan. The incumbent will work with the cyber security project team to develop engineering processes and procedures necessary for conducting cyber security related engineering tasks during post turnover of the cyber security program to improve and sustain the safe and reliable operation of CPNPP.
      
Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing cyber security/digital design changes, supporting preparation of procedure changes, coordination with site engineering organizations on reviews and roll out of procedure changes including new procedures for cyber security related tasks. The incumbent will prepare for transitioning the cyber security responsibilities from project phase to plant operations and maintenance phase, including performing all necessary functions post turn over.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•        Performs engineering tasks related to cyber security
•        Participates on the CPNPP Cyber Security Assessment Team
•        Reviews digital designs/cyber security designs in support of the plant to ensure compliance with design criteria and standards
•        Conducts cyber security analysis and assessments of digital systems, equipment and networks, including recommending solutions
•        Knowledgeable of 10CFR 73.54 cyber security regulations
•        Prepares 10CFR50.59 screens.
•        Performs engineering evaluations, including update of digital and cyber security programs, and procedures
•        Assesses and resolves potential conditions adverse to quality
•        Reviews digital/cyber security design and documentation
•        Performs tasks in accordance with established expectations for nuclear safety and personnel safety
•        Manage multiple task assignments
•        Establish industry contacts with other facilities to share experience with similar projects
•        Utilize plant resources, personal knowledge, and external resources to accomplish overall performance requirements
•        Communicates clearly and concisely in written, verbal, and electronic forms
•        Interfaces with station organizations on cyber security related functions

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Education - Must meet one of the following:
•        Bachelors of Science, Electrical Engineering with Digital/Computer Engineering minor
•        Bachelors of Science, Computer Engineering
•        Bachelor of Science, Information Security
•        Associates degree in Digital Technology w/ 6 or more years experience in Digital I&C, Networks and Information Systems/Plant Digital I&C

Experience:
•        Two (2) years nuclear power plant experience in engineering (preferred)
•        Knowledge of system engineering and design engineering process and functions (preferred)
•        Has working knowledge/experience of Digital Technology Fundamentals and/or education in Digital Technology and Electronics (preferred)
•        Possesses knowledge/working experience of digital communications and networking (preferred)
•        Is knowledgeable of cyber security concepts and practices (preferred)
•        Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification (preferred)

Job description
The I&C Design Engineer will develop design changes, formal calculations, uncertainty analysis, instrument scaling, set-point changes and engineering evaluations to either address emergent technical plant issues or improve plant equipment on both safety and non-safety related plant systems. In addition, the I&C Design Engineer will support regulatory related activities (e.g. operability & reportability reviews) and act as the technical conscience of the station to maintain the design bases of the plant.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of five (5) years specifically related design engineering experience is required. Proficient technical writing skills are required and experience with the following programs and software is preferred:

I&C Programs and Software at STP:
•        Equipment Qualification (Oracle Database)
•        Microsoft Office 97 (Excel, Word, Power-point)
•        Instrument Set-point List & Scaling (Oracle Database)
•        Ovation (plant computer)
•        Digital Control Modifications
